Program Overview
What it is?
This program is designed to assist downtown property owners in making exterior renovations to their front facades. It will provide for matching 1 to 1 reimbursement grants for façade improvements in the Borough of Coopersburg up to a maximum amount of $5,000 per property.

Why invest?
The Façade Program is intended to stimulate private investment in the preservation of historic downtown architecture and to foster image-making improvements to properties.
- Benefits to property owners include: Higher rents, more stable leases, increased occupancy rates, improved marketability and higher property values.
- Benefits to business owner include: Increased sales, improve image and visibility of your business, increases exposure, creates an inviting atmosphere and reduce overhead.
- Benefits to the community include: Help create a sense of place, enhance safety and cleanliness, recruit better employees, develop a more stable tax base and reduce pressure for sprawl development.
Eligible properties...
Any business or resident (excluding government or non-profit entities) within the map shown on right are eligible. This includes
Main Street, from Linden Street to Fairmount Street.
Eligible activities...
Major maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and restoration of commercial storefronts and facades are eligible activities. Projects must achieve visible results that enhance the Borough’s image, marketability and economic vitality. Projects will be evaluated in terms of quality, design compatibility and level of visual impact.
Ineligible activities...
Sidewalks, landscaping, fences, retaining walls, site improvements, paving, parking lots, and sandblasting are not eligible activities.
Schedule...
- Review guidelines
- File Notice of Intent to Apply form (complete).
- Receive Design Assistance (eligible properties only, complete).
- Apply for full Façade Grant (in progress).
- Façade Grants are awarded by Coopersburg Design Committee.
- Begin construction.
- Complete construction, obtain all necessary materials and submit for a reimbursement check.
- Receive reimbursement check.

Completed Projects
110 N. Main Street - As you can see, the entire Facade was repainted, as was the porch, windows
and door. Isn't it amazing what a simple coat of paint can do? The windows now stick out in an
attractive manner and the building still looks remarkably historically appropriate.
101 N. Main Street - As you can see, the sign was replaced. The new sign is clearer,
larger, more colorful and features the website of the business.
303 N. Main Street - This property, which can hold both a business and residence,
painted the façade and shutters. It also replaced its front door and windows.
